Kent Weigle

 

Kent has been on the ice since 1968. During that time he won the 1973 US National Junior Dance Gold Medal. The following year he progressed to the Senior Dance Level, winning both the New England Regional and Eastern Sectional competitions. He then placed fifth in the Nebelhorn Trophy in Obersdoft, West Germany. He and his partner rose in the National Ranking to win the Silver Medal in both the 1975 and 1976 US National Championships. His first World Championship was in 1975 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1976 he was privileged to be a member of the US Olympic Team. The 1976 Olympics was the first ever to include Ice Dancing as an official event. He continued on to Gothenburg, Sweden for his second World Championships. His final year as an amateur competitor he won the 1977 US Nationals Senior Dance Gold Medal. He continued on to the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. He and his partner finished in the Top 10.

He has helped scores of skaters progress through their Senior Test. He has worked closely with many professionals in the Salt Lake City area as an expert in the field of Ice Dancing, MITF and choreography. Kent believes in providing a structured and positive experience for his students. He works with all ages and abilities, encouraging all to reach their full potential as skaters.
