Salt Lake Figure Skating (SLFS) is committed to creating a safe environment for its members and ensuring that they can participate in the sport without facing harassment or abuse. This applies to everyone involved, including athletes, coaches, officials, parents/guardians, and volunteers during SLFS or US Figure Skating sanctioned events.

All member clubs, including SLFS, are required to participate in the US Figure Skating SkateSafe® program.

To maintain good standing with SLFS, you must:

  • Adhere to the SLFS Code of Conduct.

  • Fulfill necessary dues, registrations, and pay any required fees.

  • Follow US Figure Skating SkateSafe Handbook requirements.

  • Comply with health and safety rules set by SLFS, Salt Lake Sports Complex, or any other relevant authority when representing SLFS.

SLFS roles frequently interacting with underage members must undergo SafeSport training and a National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) Background check, including:

  • Coaches

  • Board members

Key points to note:

  • All forms of misconduct, including sexual, physical, emotional, bullying, threats, and harassment, are unacceptable and violate US Figure Skating rules.

  • Roles requiring SafeSport training need annual refreshers. NCSI Background Checks are valid for two years (with an automatic check after 12 months).

  • To access training and checks, visit the US Figure Skating Members area, click on the SkateSafe icon, and follow the instructions. SLFS encourages all members, including volunteers without a U.S. Figure Skating Membership Account, to take the free online SafeSport training.
