Official Notice: General Membership Meeting & Bylaw Vote — Jan 19, 2026
Date/Time: Monday, January 19, 2026 — 6:00 PM
Location: SLC Fire Station 3 (Community Room)
Address: 2425 South 900 East, Salt Lake City
Entry: When you arrive, the station’s front doors should be unlocked. Please use this entrance. The community room is located at the top of the stairs and is also accessible by elevator.
Purpose of the meeting
The primary item of business is a proposed bylaw amendment to update the club’s name by adding “Club,” changing it to:
Salt Lake Figure Skating Club
Because the club name appears in our bylaws, changing it requires a membership vote.
Proposed bylaw amendment
Article I, Section 1 (Name)
Update the organization name to “Salt Lake Figure Skating Club.”
For reference, the bylaws are available on the club website.
Voting eligibility
All members are welcome to attend and participate in discussion.
For the bylaw vote: all adult members (age 18+) in good standing are eligible to vote.
Why this change is being proposed (and why now)
This isn’t about “changing who we are.” It’s about making it immediately clear what we are.
When prospective families see “Salt Lake Figure Skating,” they often don’t know whether that refers to a private business, a county program, a clinic, or an actual member-based organization. Adding one word—“Club”—removes that ambiguity. It aligns us with how figure skating organizations are commonly named nationwide, makes communication with partners and new families easier, and presents a more professional, consistent identity.
Timing matters because we’re planning a refreshed set of club merch—especially club jackets—so our skaters and families have something they’re proud to wear heading into the 2026–2027 season. To have jackets and branding ready in time, we need to finalize the club name soon so vendors can produce items without rework or confusion.
In short: this is a small change that reduces friction, improves clarity, and helps us show up as a stronger, more cohesive organization.
If you can’t attend
If you cannot attend in person, the bylaws allow voting by proxy. If you’d like to vote by proxy, please reply to this email before the meeting with:
